Firmware, N81 »
The N81 has just got a new firmware for itself and the improvements this time are huge. First up demand paging and Flash Lite 3 support has been added, bringing it on par with the newer Nseries devices. But what is both a surprise and a pleasure is that it has also gotten itself new Feature Pack 2 like transitions, check out the youtube video above.

A lot of the times when we think of getting a new handset, the top tier of the Nseries pops into mind; my phone of choice the N95-8GB, the superb N82 or the venerable N95 Classic. However these are what you call high end and phones. What if somebody is looking for a nice mid tier S60 about 350$, nothing really fancy but something that ‘does the job’. With this in mind what options do we have?
The 6120, the E51, the N81 and perhaps the N73. In today’s time WiFi …

Ladies and Gentelman its time. The N-Gage platform has just gone live, the rebirth is complete. The application is now officially available for the N81, N81 8GB, N82, N95 and N95 8GB models.
Here is the (un)official announcement from the N-Gage Blog.
“We are live! The games, the devices, and the community are all here for you to finally get your teeth into. The Forums are back up and the new N-Gage application is here. There will be an official announcement on Monday, but for you, the N-Gage faithful we wanted to …

The N-Gage brand has finally woken up from the big slumber that Nokia had put it into following the not so sucessful N-Gage devices. The new gaming platform which is compatible with devices such as the N81, N95 Lineup, N73, N82 etc has now been made available for the N81 only.
The probable reason behind this move is to keep the numbers manageable and make bug rectification easier but I as a user would have liked to be a uniform launch; although the internet modded file that enables usage on other compatible …

I have been out of town for the last few days and have had very little access to decent speed internet, not to mention scarcity of free time. However now all of that has changed, well apart from the internet! What this period of travel allowed me to do was explore the possibilities of the N81 as a travelling companion.
Am I happy? Yes, but it would be a qualified yes and here is why:

I do not have words to describe what I feel. I am supposed to be working on something very important right now, yet I simply cannot get myself to do that! For last one week, I’ve heard more music than I usually listen to in months. I am addicted, its that bad!
The N81 8GB special edition ships with Bose Quiet Comfort 3 noise cancelling headphones in addition to the usual accessories that come with the device. This changes the equation completely. It took me an hour or so to set up the N81 …

One aspect of the Nseries WiFi phones I am sure not a lot of us put into play is UPnP. I for one have hardly used this capability on my N95 which actually is very useful. Considering the fact that you can stream all your pictures, music and video to your phone from your PC or any other so device setup, the Home Media application is neat. But what takes the cake is using TV out in tandem with UPnP. Its pretty nifty to stream pictures from a PC in …

The user manual for the N95 says that it can open multiple windows in the browser but even after three firmwares I am yet to see that option materialise. However what the latest v20 firmware has done, is give the N95 a decent ammount of free RAM. Under the old circumstances I never really dreamed of managing multiple windows on the browser, however things have changed and we are in a position to do so. I sucessfully opened four websites including AAS, Symbian-Guru, WOM World, The Symbian Blog. When I …

I am not a very WebOS person, however I am open to trying out new applications. Anuj from the N95 Community mentioned running Glide, a WebOS on the N95 I decided to give it a shot. Websites like Google are doing a pretty decent job syncing our content over the web through various applications like calender being accessible on the mobile. However a WebOS promises a complete experience and well, delivers in some cases!
