Before we get to the nitty gritties of enabling the FM transmitter, in case you are new to the functionality, here’s a small recap of what it does. (Feel, free to skip if you already know what I am talking about).
The functionality allows you to broadcast your own music playing on your N78 to any equipment that plays FM, basically the phone acts like your personal radio station. The range isn’t much but within your car or near your music system, this setup will rock. The advantage of such a …

One of the things I have been wanting to do for quite a while now is extensively try out the latest version of the multifaceted ‘Sports Tracker’ application. Like I’ve said earlier , since the time it first came out, it has undergone so much change and improvements that ’sportstracker’ is an understatement and well, a little misleading and because of this a lot of us fail to put it to its best use which is not sports but recording a trek/trip.
The lower range of the Himalayas is pretty …

As you may recall, a few days back I was able to get my hands on the production N78 for a little while. The N78, a candybar and N73 successor, was first announced at the Mobile World Congress in February. It comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera, WiFi, a 3.5mm plug and all the usual goodies expected in an Nseries device. This latest multimedia computer from Nokia went on sale two weeks ago and is currently retailing at about 450$ sim-free. Based on a short but fairly comprehensive play with …

The N78 started shipping in India a little while ago and I was able to get hold of one for a brief period. I was keen to try out the FM Transmitter as thats one of the things the N78 brings for the first time in any Nseries device. But to my dismay I simply could not find the option, I figured there was probably something wrong with my handset but today Arvind, a eagle eyed reader who has the same problem left a comment wondering why his bought in India N78, …

The N78 had started shipping a little while ago in some countries including Nokia’s home Finland. I’m pleased to say that it is now officially available in India at price of about Rs. 19,000 (450$) sim-free. I have been able to get my hands on the retail version and will be publishing my take on it soon. I had previously previewed the N78 here. Meanwhile here is an image gallery for you to check out, in case you want me to address something specifically, do drop a line.

Neil over on iGadget Life has just received a pre production Nokia N78 and has put up an unboxing video and pictures for us to enjoy. In the video, he goes through the new Photos application & the FM transmitter amongst other things and we get a glimpse of how the transitions in FP2 devices work.
If you recall the N78 was announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which I was fortunate to attend and therefore was able to have a brief play with the device and here are …

Nokia Conversations caught up with Danial Dhondt, designer of the upcoming N96 and Joeske Schellen, designer of the soon-to-launch N78. In this series of two videos, they chat about the collaborative process of designing Nokia devices and what goes into giving a phone a sense of identity.
In the second video, they talk about the role of sustainability in design and how the smallest design details can often be the most significant ones. (Video after the break)

The recent FCC leak of the scaled down N78 that lacks WiFi or 3G has made its user manual available already for anyone who wants a read. Mark from The Nokia Blog has got hold of it and has along with screen grabs explained the process of in built GeoTagging that the N78 will debut.
The process according to him is simple and if the ‘record location’ option is on and a GPS position is acquired, the camera will save the location information within the pictures’ Exif data thus negating the need for any …

The sucessor to the N73 is out and it is truly a fine mid end device. If the design doesn’t appeal to you its another matter but apart from that it will be very difficult to find fault with the N78. As the product manager himself said with the N78 they weren’t trying to do cutting edge stuff, just get the basics right and focus on the core user experience.
The N78 has several additions to it, the AGPS, 3.5mm jack, the 1200 mAh battery and so on. It is in …
