The E72 press release itself stated that it was designed to build on the success of the E71. It in many ways in very similar to the E71 – dimensions, weight, form factor and so on, infact show the E71 and E72 to a layman on the street and chances are he’ll be at a loss to identify separately.
But there is quite a bit to the E72 that is new. The faster 600 mhz processor, feature pack 2 with all the fancy UI and under the hood improvements, a 3.5mm …
E66, E71, Firmware »
The complete changelog is now available for the new v300 firmware that came out for both the E71 and the E66 on July 2nd. Amongst other things, the update is expected to improve camera quality on the E71, however it blocks the ‘hack’ on both devices.
So have a look at the changes and decide for yourself if you want to update.
E71, Firmware »
Nokia is really on a firmware rollout spree. The Nokia E71 is the latest device to get a new firmware in the form of v300.21.012, up from v200, which is available via the Nokia Software Updater. Unfortunately there’s no changlog available yet, but I’ll update this post as soon as we find out.
Since the E71 doesn’t support user data preservation, you will loose all data on your phone memory when you update, so might be wise to hang on for a little to know what you are in for before …
E71, Featured, Headline, Rumours »
This is one rumour I can’t pass up, specially when it comes from trusted Russian insider Eldar Murtazin. According to the rumour, Nokia is apparently prepping a variant/upgrade to the E71 – the E71i which will feature a 5MP camera along with FP2. There is no word on whether it will be blessed with a 3.5mm jack as well.
The announcement is expected to be around September, probably Nokia World and the handset is suppossed to come out in Brown/Mocha.
E71, Firmware »
Nokia has just rolled out a 107.4 MB firmware update for the E71. Version 210.21.006 brings minor bug fixes and doesn’t seem to bring any substantial changes. The update is available via the NSU across Asia and Europe.
The usual caveats about backing up your data etc apply, remember the E71 doesn’t have user data preservation unlike the newer FP2 devices. I’m also glad to confirm that the update is available in India as well (Thanks Faridur!).
E55, E71, Featured, Headline, Reviews »
The venerable E71 has been the inspiration behind Nokia upcoming messaging device, the E55 which also holds the honor of being the slimmest smartphone from the Finnish manufacturer. It packs in quite a few never seen before goodies, like N-Gage and FP2 as far as the Eseries goes, but the question on my mind is that despite being more of a successor to the E51, does it have the capability of replacing my trusty E71.
As a blogger I often have the good fortune of playing with a lot of new …

One of the best phone’s Nokia’s ever made has hopefully just gotten better. The E71 has just received a seemingly major firmware update taking the ‘current’ version upto v200.21.118 from v110.07.127. The new firmware brings two news black and red themes along with an improvement in WLAN stability amongst a host of other things. Complete changelog below.
The ability to ‘hack’ the firmware has been blocked since v110 so those of you who are already on v110 or who simply don’t care can go ahead and update. The usual caveats about backing up your data …

The E71 was one of the very best handsets to come out of Nokia factories in 2008 and the best ever in my book. So it is only right that we utilise its functionality to the absolute hilt and try and make the E71 even more efficient.
Here is a long list of must know tips and tricks for the E71. You might already know a few but if you are new to S60 and the E71 in particular, I’m sure this will make for a happy start to the E71 new year!
E66, E71, Firmware »
Both the E71 and the E66 have been updated to v. 110.07.127 and v. 110.07.126 respectively. This update brings a new versions of Mail For Exchange and Nokia Maps and also includes a number of performance improvements including camera viewfinder orientation, Mail for Exchange synchronisation and browsing.
But before you update, a word of caution- this update kills the ability to ‘hack’ your phone, so if you’re interested in that sort of thing – stay clear. Both Mail For Exchange and Nokia Maps can be updated by stand alone SIS …

Make no mistake, if you use it once – it will come back to haunt you. This is exactly what has happened to me. I had used the E71 for a brief period a couple of months ago and since that day I have not been able to take it out of my mind no matter what phone I have to play with.
I finally succumbed to the temptation and got myself the best phone Nokia has shipped to date. I say this before having an extended play with the N85, …
