Freeware: ApDLauncher - Faster Application & Settings Navigation

The otherwise wonderful ability of S60 to add applications can sometimes become a curse when you end up installing too many applications and they get buried inside folders resulting in you getting lost looking for a particular one.

There have been numerous solutions to this problem with developers coming out with applications like T9Nav (searches applications/data right from the first keypress) to others such as Handy Taskman and so on.

One application that I have just come across and which holds promise is ApDLauncher by ACTION_GAMER PersianPDA Admin. It displays the phone various applications and settings in a series of cascading menus, so you don’t need to navigate deep down into your folders in order to launch them. It is this concept that I like.

The Return Of The Conversation Application - Now Compatible With All S60 3rd Edition Devices

Wow! One of my favourite applications ever has been updated and is back from hibernation. In case you don’t know, Conversation is an add-on application that allows you to follow your communication with contacts as streams of conversations, which it organizes, based on individual contacts. The application also makes it very easy to reply to received messages and continue an ongoing conversation with the contact.
Yes. We heard you. After listening your heartbreaking pleas, complaints, wishes, threats, and prayers for a year, we are now proud to present Conversation application, mightier …

Introducing The Handwriting Calculator

An interesting new application called ‘Nokia Handwriting Calculator‘ has just come out of the Nokia Beta Labs. The application’s function is to allow you to calculate handwritten math expressions with a touch-screen Nokia device that includes, both the Tablets and S60 Touch. While it is nothing groundbreaking, Nokia is using it to demonstrate its new handwriting recognition technology.  What comes as a suprise is that there even exists a Windows version. (Screenshot above - click to enlarge).
The reason for creating a windows variant was perhaps just to allow a broad …

Sleep Music - Sleep Mode For The S60 Music Player/Radio Is Finally Here

I have waited for this option for what seems like ages now and I’m glad to say its finally here, not because Nokia finally woke up, but because Sujesh decided to use Python and make it happen. I am sure all of you have felt the need for the sleep mode at some point or the other, specially the ones who listen to music before dozing off at night and find the phone dead in the morning because the music player wasn’t turned off.
Enter Sleep Music, a python based application …

How To Copy Text From The S60 Browser

Before you get your hopes up, I would like to warn you before hand that you mileage with this technique may vary and some of you might even find it to be completely useless. However, as beggars can’t be choosers and we are yet to see anything that allows copying from the browser, this work around might come in handy.

The method, courtesy of Arjun from Abhista’a Blogs is simple and combines two free applications - Multiscanner and Screenshot. All you need to do is take a screenshot of the page …

Rediscovering SportsTracker With The N78

One of the things I have been wanting to do for quite a while now is extensively try out the latest version of the multifaceted ‘Sports Tracker’ application. Like I’ve said earlier , since the time it first came out, it has undergone so much change and improvements that ’sportstracker’ is an understatement and well, a little misleading and because of this a lot of us fail to put it to its best use which is not sports but recording a trek/trip.
The lower range of the Himalayas is pretty …

T9 Nav: The Next Killer Application For S60

Ladies and Gentlemen it is my pleasure to present to you, what in my opinion is going to be the next killer application for S60 devices. In the comments section of the QWERTY v. T9 speed test article, Tim mentioned an application called T9 Nav which I have only been able to try it today and it has blown my mind.
T9 Nav is a mobile search application that lets you find anything on your phone by just typing in the first few letters of whatever you’re looking for. …

I don’t know if I missed it but didn’t see this posted anywhere else. I was updating a N81’s firmware yesterday and found out that the Nokia Software Updater has been updated to version 1.4.53 from the earlier 1.4.49.

I don’t know about the changes made in this update, but for those who want the latest software on their computers, time to go updating!
