New N97 Firmware v11.0.021 Hits RDA

By - Vaibhav Sharma On 25 June 2009 10 Comments

The Nokia N97 on the RDA has been updated to v11.0.021 and that means that this new firmware should be making its way across to devices already in the wild very soon. The update should hopefully make the N97 more stable and fix quite a few bugs that currently plague the N97.

New N97 Firmware v11.0.021 Hits RDA

I would really like to see more free RAM, the ability to long press to get numbers from the keyboard, improvements to the predictive text and a fix for the screen not illuminating after unlocking the device bug. The homescreen on my N97 also doesn’t seem to like me configuring it too much and crashes often, so I’m hoping that will go away with this as well.

What are you looking forward to? The Nokia N97 Review is here.

[UPDATE - The firmware is expected to be made available on July 1 and the ChangeLog for it is here].

I hope these minor things get updated. I also found that when inputing text into fields like this one, for example, on the n97, sometimes it gets stuck on symbols and CAN NOT be changed back to letters. I have had this problem numerous times, but can’t duplicated it at will.

Hopefully Nokia is aware about most of this stuff. Too bad they don’t hand these devices out to people like us first. I’d be more than happy to put a new device through its paces and give my opinion.

I know Nokia is worried about leaks, but it doesn’t really matter since they announce a device 6 months before it’s released anyways.

I too would love to be an “idiot tester” I seem to find things out while using the phones, and it’s already out in the wild…

    I’m pretty hard on a phone too…

I also noticed the problem with the symbols sticking and unable to get back to letter mode… until I realised if you press the blue arrow key twice it sticks on blue mode until you press it again (actually rather good when entering long numbers)

    Some enhancement Ideas

I’d like to have a back button for the web browser. Something like shift+Backspace should make going to previous page lot easier.

Also, I’d like to have tab button on putty. This can be substituted by shift+right arrow
