How To Copy Text From The S60 Browser

Before you get your hopes up, I would like to warn you before hand that you mileage with this technique may vary and some of you might even find it to be completely useless. However, as beggars can’t be choosers and we are yet to see anything that allows copying from the browser, this work around might come in handy.

The method, courtesy of Arjun from Abhista’a Blogs is simple and combines two free applications - Multiscanner and Screenshot. All you need to do is take a screenshot of the page from which you want the text and use the Nokia Multiscanner to extract the text from it.

In my experience, the text that Multiscanner got out was usually accurate but the spaces were messed and there were a lot of foreign characters in it, still something at least. Get Multiscanner from NokiaAddict here and Screenshot from here.

To copy and paste text from the s60 default browser I built http://mobitol.com which also pops the text into a text box for editing, similar to the bookmarklet above, but easier to use since you just need to go to the site and type in the url you want. It also lets you open new windows and get the html source- two features left out of the browser. It should work for all s60 phones, but I have only tested it on my Nokia e61i.
