E66, E71 »

[16 Jun 2008 | One Comment | ]

After months on leaks, live images, official demoes, and even a review(!) the Nokia E66 and the E71 will finally be officially announced today, the 16th of June, at a business event in London. To my knowledge Rafe and Steve from AAS will be there and so will be Ben Smith from SMS Text News. So keep an eye on these sites for the latest. I can’t wait, just about 5 hours to go. I want the E71 - badly!

Nine months after releasing the dedicated Download! client for the PC, Nokia have done away with the idea of a installable client and have moved onto a web based Download! store. The Nokia Download Store is a Web shop for trying and buying content for your Nokia device. From Nokia Download Store you can find, preview and buy a wide variety of content, applications and services from a range of different providers. Previewing and downloading applications doesn’t cost you anything, but if you want to buy something, you may have …

Close on the heels of the iPhone Google Reader which worked on S60 devices too, comes a very own S60 optimised Google Reader. The http://www.google.com/reader/m/view/ URL now takes us to the screen pictured above. This is quite an improvement over the plain reader that was otherwise a standard on S60 Browsers. Earlier only the title of the post was visible, now the first two lines of the post also find their way into the screen space. Unlike using the iPhone version on S60 in which one had to approximate links, …

N82 »

[12 Jun 2008 | 6 Comments | ]

I recently got my hands on the beautiful looking N82 Black. It isn’t different at all from the N82 silver but the colour alone adds another dimension to the device and makes it much more appealing. Since I had already reviewed the N82 in parts here, here, here & here, I decided it would be best if I could get you another prespective on the device - a real world prespective. What people who are new to S60, or lets  just say as into it as I am, feel about …

Ovi »

You may noticed that noticed Share On Ovi was down for a liitle while and that was because it was being given two enhancements. The first is the support for PicLens, which allows for interactive viewing and browsing of media on Share in a full screen mode. In order to use this features, simply install the plugin and then simply mouse over media on Share and click on the PicLens play button that appears in the lower left hand corner to view.

The second is the addition of another Image Size, …

Miscellaneous, N78 »

[11 Jun 2008 | 36 Comments | ]

The N78 started shipping in India a little while ago and I was able to get hold of one for a brief period. I was keen to try out the FM Transmitter as thats one of the things the N78 brings for the first time in any Nseries device. But to my dismay I simply could not find the option, I figured there was probably something wrong with my handset but today Arvind, a eagle eyed reader who has the same problem left a comment wondering why his bought in India N78, …

N79, Rumours »

[10 Jun 2008 | 11 Comments | ]

Today is one hell of a leaks day. The iPhone is being drowned by these images. After the N85 and the 5800 Tube, here comes the N79 not in one but two colour variants. Plus there are even more images on the N85 double slider. Details are thin on the N79 but might I say if this thing is really authentic, I am not really impressed. What do you think? More images of the N79 and N85 below.

Nokia 5800, Rumours »

[10 Jun 2008 | No Comment | ]

It seems like someone is really in a mood to draw the spotlight away from the iPhone announcement by releasing unannounced Nokia/Nseries devices’ pictures. Hot on the heels of the possible N85 comes the 5800 that is code named the ‘Tube’, that is the first S60 Touch device from Nokia. It features a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a 3.5mm plug. What bothers me is the stylus, I don’t really like devices that need me to use them as there’s the fear of losing them plus is more …

N85, Rumours »

[9 Jun 2008 | 6 Comments | ]

We’ve just hit upon a few images of what is rumoured to be the N85. As you can see the phone just carries a ‘N00′ marking but word has it that the N85 is up next without there being a N83 announcement. This is supposed to be the next generation of the N96, video focused, GPS, GeoTagging, the now usual Nseries feature set and based on S60 FP2 possibly. These pictures seem to be of an early early proto and seem authentic. Jump over for more.

E66, E71 »

After months of anticipation, waiting, leaks, live pictures and even a review the E66 and E71 Demonstrations have finally gone live on the Nokia website. We’r not sure this is an ‘official launch’ or whether these demonstrations will be taken down as mistake, there are still no press releases or press photos too. But for what its worth Demos for both the E66 and E71 are up.
If this is actually the way Nokia are going to announce these phones, its a pity and they couldn’t have picked a worse time. Its …
