Android, Announcements, News, Symbian »

This is huge news. As you may already know Nokia currently holds the controlling interest in Symbian, however  not satisfied with that they are going to acquire a full 100%. The net cash outlay from Nokia to purchase the approximately 52% of Symbian Limited shares it does not already own will be approximately EUR 264 million.
But they don’t really want it for themselves but to create an open platform. In this direction, the Symbian Foundation, was announced today by Nokia, along with AT&T, LG Electronics, Motorola, NTT DOCOMO, Samsung, Sony …

I just came across a very though provoking piece on the Conversations website - Product Leaks. We are all well aware of the latest Nokia phones but that’s not it, these days we seem to be aware of what’s being cooked up in their labs too! Pictures of the latest Nokia slider, the first S60 touchscreen device and so on are hugely sought after and our appetite for more and more knowledge about what’s going on never ends. May be it is because we are just looking too see what …

I picked this up from Dotsisx over at Symbian-Guru and Zach over at SiMo and it sure has me intrigued. Apparently Anssi has gone missing and along with this poster you see above, was this message from the WOM World/Nokia team. “We had this wanted poster posted to us this week… thought you or your community might be able to help out? ;)”
He was it seems last seen waiting in line at a phone booth, holding a Nokia slider, possibly the N96 and busy N-Gaging on it or perhaps …

N78, Reviews »

[20 Jun 2008 | 7 Comments | ]

As you may recall, a few days back I was able to get my hands on the production N78 for a little while. The N78, a candybar and N73 successor, was first announced at the Mobile World Congress in February. It comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera, WiFi, a 3.5mm plug and all the usual goodies expected in an Nseries device. This latest multimedia computer from Nokia went on sale two weeks ago and is currently retailing at about 450$ sim-free. Based on a short but fairly comprehensive play with …

Android, Nokia N95 »

This one hit me completely out of the blue. Apparently a chap named Jovan has managed to get Android up and running on a Nokia N95. Yes, the same Nokia N95 that runs the S60 operating system. He claims to now have a dual boot between Andriod and S60. He backs up this claim by the video above and another one below, with which he demoes Google Maps and the Dialer. After playing with this setup he says, “My impressions after using it are all positive, its much faster than …

Going over the recent Eseries launches, I couldn’t help but feel that there was just no answer to the E71 from the Nseries department, we have waited and we have waited but sadly there is still no Nseries QWERTY. What this will mean is that a lot of people who *like* their music and their pictures will look towards the E71 as a inviting proposition. Could the E71 pull it of? Yes! But have Nokia allowed it to? No!
What Nokia must understand and I think they do, is that when …

The initial euphoria and the rush that comes with long awaited product launches is finally over and after going through a lot of information on these new blue eyed boys of the Eseries lineup, I have decided to pen my own thoughts. The one thing I can say for sure that these are two of the most good looking devices ever made by Nokia and the White Steel colour/material combination is an absolute killer. However inspite of the fact that they have been released together, basically offer the same specifications …

Pizero’s just released his latest theme titled Stealth and I Iove it. The idea behind Stealth is to replace all default and 3rd party application icons with blanks and give the apprearance as if they were missing, which along with a black background creates the illusion as if the the screen is not on. This theme is great for times when you are in the movie hall and need to hammer out a text message and not bother the others around you with a bright screen or a million …

I just can’t seem to get over the looks of these phones to look further. Period. The basic specifications are the same as we already know them. A 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi and FP1. When details first came out, the FP1 was a little disappointment but Nokia seems to have compensated with a lot of tweaks for these enterprise targetted devices. First up is a revamped calender application, plus the ability to switch the home screen depending on time of the day/week or whatever you may like. Another interesting …
