Applications, S60 »
A couple of days ago Mark wrote a post detailing the first 10 applications he installs on any S60 Nokia he gets his hands on and invited other long term users to share what they do once they get a new phone. This is something I have also been wanting do for some time now, so after the break you can find the first ten applications I let rip on my devices.
Miscellaneous, Nokia, Rumours, S60 »
The anxiety is over folks. Nokia has no plans to switch over to Linux as the OS for its phones. As you may be aware a few days back there were reports that Nokia was planning to shift to Linux for its lineup; these were caused when comments from Rick Simonson, Nokia’s Financial Director, that the mobile phone giant was “well on the way” towards using Linux on mobile phones were misinterpreted. The confusion came from the definition of a mobile phone, and what constitutes a phone handset. Nokia already uses Linux …
E90, Firmware »
A few days ago, Firmware v210.34.75 came out for the E90. The new firmware as oppossed to the v07.40 brings Flash Lite 3, a new version of Quickoffice, loads of bug fixes and stability improvements amongst other things. This E90 firmware brings it on par with other Nseries handets such as the N95 variants and the N82 that can play Flash Video in the browser. Not so long ago in early April v200.34.72 had come out for a few product codes that brought the same features, this firmware brings nothing new as compared …

The Sports Tracker application (yes its still called Sports Tracker!), has been updated once more and is up to v1.76 and support for uploading of video clips along with pictures taken during your journey to Sports Tracker web site has been added. Also added has been support for upcoming handsets like the N78 and N96.
We are all unanimous in the belief that the name ‘Sports Tracker’ needs to go especially because from the time the application came out to now, it has undergone so much change and improvements that ’sportstracker’ is …

After a long public Beta, Nokia Maps has finally graduated out of Beta and is available for download for all FP1 devices. This will also mean that future devices and firmwares will make come with Maps 2 preinstalled, a big plus as Maps 2 does a lot more than the maps application the phones currently ship with.
The Maps application now packs enormous worldwide street mapping, POI datasets, Pedestrian Navigation, new Satellite Images and Support for integrated Compass Orientation (read Nokia 6120)! All of this free, of course, the pay-as-you-go voice-guided …
E90, Firmware »
Just when I was just thinking of formatting my E90 because it had got cluttered with applications and also because some rogue application was really eating into its battery life, Steve brings news that a new Firmware - 210.34.75, is out for the E90. The good thing about it is that the firmware seems to be available across most unlocked phone product codes, unlike the Nseries with which a lot of people need to change their product to update if they do not want to wait, like Nokia would have them.
This update …

An amazing video that starting from the year 1985 till the year 2007 shows the evolution of mobile phones across all manufacturers. Brilliant.
E51, N81 »
A lot of the times when we think of getting a new handset, the top tier of the Nseries pops into mind; my phone of choice the N95-8GB, the superb N82 or the venerable N95 Classic. However these are what you call high end and phones. What if somebody is looking for a nice mid tier S60 about 350$, nothing really fancy but something that ‘does the job’. With this in mind what options do we have?
The 6120, the E51, the N81 and perhaps the N73. In today’s time WiFi …

Have you registered at the S60 site? If you haven’t you should! In addition to the usual benefits like getting 25% off on all Nokia Software Market software and getting to make application wishes, there are nice free S60 themes up for download, including two ‘My S60′ themes - one in white and one in blue, available both for S60 v2 and v3 handsets. The White S60 is a theme I absolutely love and was looking for!
