The anxiety is over folks. Nokia has no plans to switch over to Linux as the OS for its phones. As you may be aware a few days back there were reports that Nokia was planning to shift to Linux for its lineup; these were caused when comments from Rick Simonson, Nokia’s Financial Director, that the mobile phone giant was “well on the way” towards using Linux on mobile phones were misinterpreted. E90, Firmware »
A few days ago, Firmware v210.34.75 came out for the E90. The new firmware as oppossed to the v07.40 brings Flash Lite 3, a new version of Quickoffice, loads of bug fixes and stability improvements amongst other things. This E90 firmware brings it on par with other Nseries handets such as the N95 variants and the N82 that can play Flash Video in the browser. The Sports Tracker application (yes its still called Sports Tracker!), has been updated once more and is up to v1.76 and support for uploading of video clips along with pictures taken during your journey to Sports Tracker web site has been added. Also added has been support for upcoming handsets like the N78 and N96.

After a long public Beta, Nokia Maps has finally graduated out of Beta and is available for download for all FP1 devices. This will also mean that future devices and firmwares will make come with Maps 2 preinstalled, a big plus as Maps 2 does a lot more than the maps application the phones currently ship with.
The Maps application now packs enormous worldwide street mapping, POI datasets, Pedestrian Navigation, new Satellite Images and Support for integrated Compass Orientation (read Nokia 6120)! All of this free, of course, the pay-as-you-go voice-guided …
