After the stability update a few days ago, as promised, a new version is out that among other things supports WEP security. Thats means that we shall be finally able to turn our WiFi smartphone into a wireless hotspot even in public places without any fear. This version comes with a generous 90 day trial after which it needs to be purchased.
Update: Lasse Maki CEO, Founder JoikuSoft informs us that the lite version will continue to remain free and there will be a premium variant with advanced features later on.

I just came across this nifty little java application that offers the latest scores and ball-by-ball live commentary of all international matches on your phone for free. The mobicast is the same textual commentary that is available on the widely read cricinfo website. Just key in this URL into your phone’s WAP browser to Download.

N96 »

There has been word going the blogosphere that the N96 is in fact going to get a xenon flash instead of the dual LED’s. This has been picked up by Intomobile, The Nokia Blog, Engadget Mobile, SymbianWebBlog and numerous others. I am glad to say that I can confirm this after receiving confirmation from trusted sources. But contrary to popular opinion the LED’s are also going to stay to assist in video capture. The N96 is finally a worthy N9x device!
